Ouranitsa Abbas
Having a strong background in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and Broadway dance, Ouranitsa Abbas picked up the art of Middle Eastern Dance quickly and fell head over heels in 2005, studying with Brenda Petersen and Dori Witt, both at Friends School's Middle Eastern Dance Club and Egyptian Sun at Johns Hopkins University. Since 2005 she has performed in and around Baltimore at private parties and clubs such as Red Maple, Club One, and Sonar, and has helped Dori with the organizational logistics of the troupe and all performances. A current JHU student, Ouranitsa is known for her high energy, charismatic interpretations of Egyptian and Greco-Turkish cabaret, her obsessions with Bollywood, Isis wings, and the Turkish pop singer Tarkan, as well as being the troupe's resident "super spinner" and "Turkish drop" specialist.
